EmFinders’ EmSeeQ Emergency Locator Wins Today’s Caregiver Magazine’s 2010 Caregiver Friendly Award
Today’s Caregiver, the first national magazine for all family and professional caregivers, and caregiver.com have announced that the EmSeeQ™ emergency locator system by EmFinders® has been awarded a 2010 Caregiver Friendly® Award in the product category. The Caregiver Friendly Awards are designed to celebrate products, services, books and media created with the needs of caregivers in mind.
The first and only cellular-based locator that connects directly to the national E-9-1-1 location system, EmSeeQ helps rescue and recover wandering and lost individuals suffering from cognitive impairments as a result of Alzheimer’s disease, dementia, autism, traumatic brain injury and other circumstances. The wristwatch-style device uses cellular technology to quickly and securely locate the person wearing the device in the event of a wandering emergency.
“We hear from caregivers all the time who tell us that EmSeeQ provides them with incredible peace of mind in knowing that their loved one can be found quickly in the event of a wandering situation,” said Jim Nalley, CEO and founder of EmFinders. “We are extremely honored to receive this award that further validates the effectiveness of our system—not only in saving lives, but also in providing the peace of mind for caregivers that allows them to keep their loved ones at home longer, rather than committing them to long-term care.”
Unlike traditional GPS systems, which are not reliable indoors, under cover or between tall buildings, EmSeeQ places a call to 9-1-1 upon activation, triggering the national E-9-1-1 emergency location system. Using advanced cellular triangulation technology, the system can then provide an accurate location to within meters in virtually any environment and update the location at any time to account for movement while emergency responders are en route. The system is very affordable, costing less than a typical cell phone, with service plans that run about $25 per month.
“The average caregiver is responsible for over $40,000 in health related expenditures each year, in either personal or directed funds,” says Gary Barg, Today’s Caregiver magazine’s Editor-in-Chief. “This award is designed to help family caregivers recognize and reward those organizations who will care for them in as committed a manner as they care for their loved ones.”
The Caregiver Friendly award will be presented to EmFinders during the Today’s Caregiver’s Fearless Caregiver Conference in Boynton Beach, FL on Thursday, July 15.
